What happens to you now?

Verkehrsstrafen AT is an iPhone app for Austrian traffic offences. It answers the four questions that matter — do I lose my licence, do I get a register entry (Vormerkung), what is the fine, can my car be seized — and every answer carries the exact article of the law.

What the app does

Honest about the amount

For most offences Austrian law sets a range, not a number — within it the authority decides (§ 19 VStG). The app shows the range and says so, instead of inventing a figure. Where the law does set an exact amount, you see the exact amount.

The new federal catalogue, already inside

On 1 January 2027 Austria gets its first federal catalogue of fixed fine amounts for anonymous penalty orders — 290 entries, 25 to 200 euros (BGBl. II Nr. 208/2026). The app carries it today and switches it on automatically on that day, even with no internet.

What did you get?

Organstrafverfügung, Anonymverfügung, Strafverfügung or Straferkenntnis — four kinds of notice with different deadlines and different rights. The app tells you which one you are holding, how long you have, whether an objection is possible, and what happens if you do not pay.

Vormerkungen, counted correctly

The register list is exhaustive — 13 offences, speeding is not one of them. The app counts your entries by the day of the offence, knows that a second offence extends the window to three years, and tells you what the second and third entry mean. Your entries never leave the phone.

The law on the day of your offence

For an offence from last June, last June's law applies — not today's. Pick the date and every screen shows the law as it stood on that day. The legal-status date is always visible.

All legal data comes from the Rechtsinformationssystem des Bundes (RIS, Bundeskanzleramt, CC BY 4.0) and is updated as data packages, without waiting for an app update. Only the text published in the Bundesgesetzblatt is binding; the app is no substitute for legal advice.

What you get without paying

Search and browse every offence, and see the fine — range or exact amount — with the article of the law. Plus the list of the 13 register offences, the visible legal-status date, dark mode, offline use and free data updates. No account, no registration.
